MyCiti Rapid Bus Service |
 |
 |
|
The MyCiti bus service between
Table View and Cape Town city
centre is now operative. More
details about this route can be
found on the MyCiti website - »
|
On this page we summarise the
most important information about
the service. |
 |
|
Table View – Civic Centre |
|
A dedicated lane connects Table
View station in Blaauwberg Road
and Civic Centre, on Hertzog
Boulevard in the CBD, via
Paarden Eiland and Woodstock.
There is also a new pedestrian
access route from the suburb of
Brooklyn across the canal to
stations at Zoarvlei and
Vrystaat, and a connection to
the rail system at Woodstock. At
Civic Centre station, commuters
can change to a feeder service,
which runs to the Gardens via
Long Street and to the
Waterfront via Green Point, or
to the convenient and affordable
Airport service. |
 |
|
Table View feeder bus services |
|
The purpose of these routes is
to move people from their homes
to the main trunk route. There
are a total of 120 temporary
stops on three bus routes,
moving people between Parklands,
Blouberg Sands and Big Bay and
the main station at Table View.
These temporary stops and routes
are designed to test demand and
travelling patterns ahead of a
more extensive and permanent
network of feeder routes. |
 |
|

From 05:45 until 22:00 MyCiTi
buses give easy access to the
central business district,
entertainment zones, hotels,
restaurants and public spaces,

Civic Centre station in Hertzog
Boulevard, Cape Town, is the hub
of MyCiTi services, connecting
the Gardens-Waterfront services
to the trunk route to Table View
and feeder services in the Table
View area. The Civic Centre
station is also the drop-off and
pick-up point for the MyCiTi
service to the Airport. There
are also convenient connections
around Civic Centre station to
suburban and long-distance rail,
local and inter-city bus
services, minibus and metered
taxis, located in the central
city public transport precinct. |
 |
|
Cycling and walking |
|
A major part of the MyCiTi
system is a network of cycling
paths and upgraded pedestrian
walkways connecting to the bus
routes. Already many cyclists
and pedestrians are using the
special NMT lane from Table View
to Cape Town city centre. There
is a planned link to this route
from the cycle network in other
parts of the city. |
|
Bicycles are welcome on the
buses, although access on the
Table View-Civic Centre route,
with its convenient level
boarding, is easier than on the
temporary feeder routes, where
passengers board from the
pavement. The intention is also
to provide secure bicycle
storage facilities at major
stations. |
|
Using public transport means
walking more, which offers many
health and lifestyle benefits.
Improved pavements with benches,
street lighting and creative
landscaping will make the
experience more enjoyable. |
|
The more people who walk and
cycle in the vicinity of the
stops and stations, the safer
the MyCiTi system will be. |
