At the RAMPOA Trustees on 30
November, the following
office-bearers were elected:
Tony Heath - Chairperson
Niel van Wyk - Vice-chairperson
Andrew Mills - Member of Exco
John Markland - Member of Exco |
|
The Trustees Committee has 28
members - the membership is
detailed on the RAMPOA page;

Unfortunately very few people
attend these meeting where
issues important to all of us
are discussed. It is also
usually the non-attendees who
complain most about things in
Royal Ascot; if they attended
the meetings they would be
better informed about issues and
would most times have no reason
to complain. |
 |
|
At the RAMPOA meeting on 31
August it was unanimously agreed
that we apply to the City to
introduce their free ThinkTwice recycling
initiative to Royal Ascot. |
|
We have now been informed that
for various reasons this will
not be possible in the near
future. The Solid Waste
Management Department is keen to
expand the programme, but there
are various logistical reasons,
some beyond their control, that
presents difficulties. |
|
Residents can assist by making
sure that our public
representatives - our
Councillors, and Members of
Parliament for the Province and
the National Assembly - are kept
aware of our support for the
expansion of sustainable
recycling programmes. |

Please note that from this week
onwards the landscaping
contractors will start a
programme of replacing certain
plants in the public areas along
Parade Ring Road |
|
While most of the plantings are
doing well, there are some areas
where plants have not taken so
well. There are a number of
reasons for this, it could be
the soil, aspect, drainage or
simply just that certain plants
do not do as well as expected
here. |
|
While this is going on there
will be some bare patches in the
landscaping as we will be
planting in plants that have
proven to do well in Royal
Ascot. In due course these will
grow and the bare patches will
eventually disappear. |

At the meeting of the Trustees
committee on Monday 31 August,
outdoor signage regulations were
approved unanimously. These
regulations supplement the
City's Outdoor Signage By-Law No
10518 of 5 December 2001, and
have been approved by the
relevant officials in the City. |
|
The objective of the regulations
is to protect our expensive
irrigation system from harm and
to prevent rows of unsightly
estate agent boards being placed
on the outer walls of
residential precincts. The outer
side of the walls and fences
(the side facing the street), is
not part of the inside property,
but is part of the common
property of the precinct. |
